The Battle of the Eyeliners

I'm an eyeliner wearer and I always have been. It was one of the first pieces of makeup I ever wore. I remember I used to wear it just on my waterline, with virtually no other makeup. The thought makes me cringe so badly... Why did we do these things? Eyeliner has travelled through my makeup loving history and is still as strong as it ever was, I just hope I wear it a little better than I used to! So, we get to which eyeliners do I use? First things first, I will say that liquid eyeliner and I do not mix. Bad, bad memories. I can't say I've often tried to use it on myself but it was when I tried to use it on someone else, that's where the awful memory comes from. Mental block maybe? Anyway, I don't really feel as though I'm missing out as I'm more than happy with the ones I can use. So, what eyeliner works best for what you want?

The Gel Eyeliner

I love my No7 Limited Edition Gel Eyeliner and I love the tiny brush it comes with. For use above my top lashes and I often use it when I'm feeling a little bit of a flick. It lasts forever and if I need a makeup look to last, then I will always go for this but only for the upper lash line.

The Pencil Eyeliner

Barry M's Intense Black Eyeliner Pen is a retractable eyeliner pencil in a super intense matte black shade. I've used this for as long as I can remember and no matter how many I try I always go back to this one. It doesn't last forever but it isn't so bad as I love the effect it gives. It lasts longer with a primer underneath too! I like using this in the upper lash line when I don't feel like spending the time on the precision of a Gel liner. For the waterline I love using the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Pervision*, it's super black and lasts well on the waterline. The best I've tried, although I don't think it works well on the upper lash line.

The Pen Eyeliner

Possibly one of the easiest to apply eyeliners, and one I always seem to go back to. I hate having to spend too long on my makeup if I'm just not in the mood so this one is perfect for those days. I love the Cosmetics A La Carte Stay Put Intense Eyeliner Pen*, but any other eyeliner pen will work just as well. I love to use these to help create the cat eye effect that I'm usually so bad at. If I'm struggling sometimes I will use this pen as a sort of guide and then will sometimes go over the top of it with a more intense black liner. Super easy, super effective!

I love all of these kinds of eyeliners for totally different uses. What are your favourite eyeliners?

  4. My absolute favourite gel eyeliner is the Collection one! It's so long lasting on the eyes, super creamy and doesn't dry out like a lot of gels do! I have them in my kits for clients and they are stunning!

  6. The one I've been loving for ages is one I got in a Birchbox! It is a gel eyeliner by Laura Gellar and it's so, so good! I also have loved the Urban Decay 24/7 liquid eyeliner, it has the finest brush tip which is perfect!
