2014 Favourites: The Makeup Brushes

So we’ve talked about all of the makeup I’ve loved applying this year but now we’re onto what I’ve loved applying it with. Yep, that’s right. We’re talking makeup brushes and you may recognize a few of them from last years feature.

If you’re ever looking to add a few new brushes into your collection Real Techniques is of course the one and only brand I’d recommend. Their brushes are amazing for the price and are honestly the best I’ve ever tried. They last so well and the finish is flawless and as you can see there’s a few featuring here and rightly so.

First up, I’m talking what I use to apply my base with. I’ve not always been a foundation lover but ever since I’ve got into it I’ll put the application down to my the Real Techniques Buffing Brushfrom the Core Collection. I love it so much, I can only expect to see this featuring in next years favourites also. It really is that amazing.

To apply my concealer, at the start of the year, like I did last year I used the Zoeva 110 Face Shape Brush* and the rest of the year and now I’ve been using the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush from the Starter Set. I do really enjoy using them both, the finish is very similar but the Zoeva brush is a little too large which was why I moved onto the Real Techniques one. I need to get onto using the Face Shape brush like it’s meant to be used, it’s so nice and I want to get a little more use out of it.

Finishing off the base, and for powder I use this Eco Tools brush I picked up in a travel set a while ago. It’s super soft and applies the powder beautifully.

Now I’m talking brows and the Real Techniques Pixel Point Eyeliner Brush from the Starter Set is the best brush I’ve found for applying my brow powder. It’s super soft but the perfect shape to make sure the powder application is applied where you want it to be.

Finally onto eyes and I’ve got two favourites that I am forever using. I apply the majority of the shadow with the Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush from the Starter Set. It’s perfect for this and great all rounder brush for eye shadow.  To finish the look, I use an Eco Tools buffing shadow brush from a travel set and oh boy, this brush is just the softest thing I’ve ever come across. It just helps to make sure everything is all blended in together and ensures the eye shadow look is flawless.

I honestly can’t tell you how amazing all of these brushes actually are. As I said Real Techniques are the brand I’d totally recommend. All of the brushes I use probably would just be them if I owned them all. Now to add a few more into my collection for 2015, right?

What makeup brushes have you been loving throughout 2014?

  1. I love the real technique brushes, my favourite ones are the buffing brush, expert face brush and of course the contour brush! I'd love to own some zoeva brushes - maybe something to add to my birthday wish list.
