Sweet Apple Yankee Candle

So by now you'll all know about my candle addiction but I can't help but admit that it has completely lessened off now that the warmer weather has come around and I still have lots of christmas scents left. Over-buying mistake, I think so? I knew I needed some summer scents but there was something that still had me feeling a little sceptical as I wasn't sure I liked the idea of the warming candle like idea in this weather... (or lack of at the minute!) but when this candle, the gorgeous Yankee Candle Sweet Apple Large Candle Jar* came into my life it was all turned around. 

I didn't think I'd ever choose an apple scent, I'm usually an orange kinda gal but this is just beautiful! If you see this in a store, you need to go and sniff it. I remember when I first got it and I smelt it for the first time, I just couldn't stop. I didn't want to burn it because I didn't want it to go. I found that during the winter months I'd burn candles so excessively that they would all finish so quickly. I bit the bullet and have been burning it since and boy am I loving it. It burns well, it smells amazing and I love the look of it. 

My first Yankee Candle Large Jar Candle and I can assure you it won't be my last.

Skincare Saviours: The Body Shop Microdermabrasion

I used to work at The Body Shop and I've had a hefty addiction ever since Day 1. I used to think of it as a brand I liked a lot when I was younger. I remember The Body Shop party we had while I was in Year 9 at Boarding School and everyone was clubbing together to get a beauty bag filled with mini when you spent over a certain amount but I ended up spending enough to get it myself... I was a big spender and a beauty addict even back then! When I started working there, I came to realise that actually a lot of the products are really great. The Satsuma range, I'm looking at you. I bought a lot of their products, I know a lot about their products and so I really can tell you all about my pick of the crop. 

Today I'm talking about my favourite product from The Body Shop, the one I reluctantly paid full price for, because it is that good and honestly, I couldn't live without it. It's The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion.

Everyone needs to have a scrub for their face, I really can't stress the importance of it. It makes such a difference but with this one... I'd never felt my face as soft as I did the first time I tried this. I remember I couldn't keep my hands off of it - which ladies, you really shouldn't do... 

The scrub is filled with tiny exfoliating beads instead of the large ones we're used to. It can be slightly more gentle against the skin because of it, but with the amount of them I find that it makes a much larger difference than those with the larger beads. 

When I worked there, if anyone was on the hunt for a scrub, I'd take them straight to this one and let them try it out on the back of their hand. Give it a quick scrub and then wipe it off and you'll notice the difference, trust me! I honestly can't stress it enough how amazing this scrub really is. A firm favourite in my routine and I can't see it going anywhere any time soon.

Summer Bright Nail Polish Shades

It's England, it's not sunny, why am I not surprised? With the rain all over, I thought a bright and sunny post would help to put us all into that bit of a better mood and cheer us all up! Of course, what's better than nail polish and swatches? Every girl loves nail polish, right? It's definitely not just me, I swear... 

I 'shopped my stash' and came up with the brightest and bestest of my entire collection... 

This post's neon yellow comes from Urban Outfitters and is their shade 'Miami'. I'm not talking any old neon here, this is the brightest I've ever come across. It's not fantastic on it's own but layer this baby over a white base and you're looking at the brightest nails you ever did see. I'm talking highlighter and tipex yellow, did anyone else do that... No?  Just me then. Uh oh. 

A firm favourite in my collection and one I've kept firmly in my collection since the sunny days last year.  Model's Own Head Kandi Collection holds a few summer nail polish favourites for most but my pick is 'Beach Party' a super bright orange that looks gorgeous with or without a tan. What's not to love? 

A newer polish in my collection and Nails Inc 'Queen Victoria Street'*, I'm looking at you. I love a good turquoise, and this one is a really nice one. Not only fantastic in the summer, but I'd work this all year round. If you're on more of a budget though, head to the Barry M Gelly stand, you won't regret it. 

Speaking of the devil, the next polish comes from Barry M's infamous Gelly range and it's 'Blue Grape' an uber bright cobalt blue. A slightly darker shade next to all of the brights, but if you're not feeling as adventurous, then this'll be your go-to shade. 

Last but not least is a mini from W7 from the Dot-to-Dot Pink Set* - a super affordable not only to get some more polishes into your collection but also to give you a go at nail art!

A-Derma Skincare for Dry/Sensitive Skin

Today's post is for all you dry skinned gals, just like me. I have dry skin that can be a little sensitive at times and as much of a skincare addict I am, my routine generally consists of the same familiar faces... Liz Earle I'm looking at you. 

When this A-DERMA range came into my life, I was a little hesitant. I was using up another moisturiser at the time, my skin seemed to be getting on with it but it wasn't love like my other Clinique and Origins favourites. I thought to hell with it, and gave this one ago and honestly... it was love at first touch. I'm talking the A-Derma Nutrialba Rich Nourishing Cream* here and it's so dreamy to the touch. I loved the gel formula of the Clinique Moisture Surge and the uber creamy-ness of the Origins High Potency Night-a-mins, but this was like something in between. It keeps my skin as hydrated as both of my old faves and the texture is gorgeous, it's super creamy but with the slightly tacky texture of the gel formula I know and love. It sinks in well, I usually apply a little more in the evening but in the morning before I apply my makeup I keep it to quite a minimum with just a thin layer across the face. It's so good that even the thin layer keeps my skin hydrated under makeup! 

On to the other products and I actually really like them too. I save the A-Derma Rheacalm Rich Soothing Cream* for when my skin is feeling sore and irritated. It works great for those days, but luckily lately I haven't come across them much... I would put that down to my new favourite moisturizer! After attending an event for La-Roche-Posay recently, they had this nifty box where you stuck your head in and it showed up in different coloured spots and then a lovely lady that knew all about skin would tell you what you needed to be doing better. Eye Cream was my main one... I didn't use it, and I didn't really realise it could make that much of a difference. When I had tried them out before, my skin usually just ended up feeling a little irritated as it does when I use too many products and so just assumed it was a step I could miss out. Clearly, I was wrong and just being a tad lazy, and perhaps I was using the wrong one? So I set to work using this A-Derma Rheacalm Soothing Eye Contour Cream* and I don't have the 'too much product' on my skin issue anymore. That's the thing that's so great about this range, it's formulated for sensitive skin and it's so soothing when you use it.

If you have even the slightest of sensitive skin it'd be so worth checking A-Derma out, they have lots of different products and ranges to suit different skin types so I'm sure there'll be one for you... but if you do have dry skin, you need to try these out!

Tasty Things From Birds Eye...

So when I got the chance to head down to the #birdseyeinspirations pop up restaurant, I jumped at the chance - well, what foody wouldn't? The chance to try out some amazing dishes using the new Birds Eye Inspiration range, and learn the best ways to take pictures of it, well what blogger would turn that down? 

On the menu was 3 options; chicken, fish or vegetable. We both opted for the fish option and it was fish chargrilled with sun blushed tomato, basil and oregano, roasted jersey royals, wilted spinach and buttered brown shrimp and oh boy... it was amazing! I love to cook, it's my other passion (alongside beauty, of course!) and so I can't wait to get my hands on some of the chargrills to try my own hand at cooking with at home, myself.  Now I might not be able to create this extravagant dish, but with the flavour already there in the fish it means I can get a little more experimental with what I serve it with... 

And finally, on the photo front - from up above is always best. Stand up and take your pictures!

The Boyfriend Post: Male Skin Care Routine

This post is for all of you gals with a boyfriend, husband, brother, Dad or a male friend... well that pretty much covers all of you right? As long as you have a man somewhere in your life then keep reading... 

If you're reading my blog I'm going to assume you've got a thing for beauty? Skincare comes with it so you'll probably have a little obsession, just like I do. I've got quite the collection and I think through my obsession it was only normal that my boyfriend Callum would become a little interested and of course, beauty crazy me was only happy to oblige... 

Callum's skincare routine used to only really consist of a face wash and moisturiser (by the way, he has quite problematic blemish prone skin that can get quite dry just for reference throughout the post) but when I got him started on a few more products that's where his collection and routine got a little larger. 

The first product that actually got him into using a few more products and actually products that were better for him, and that worked better with his skin is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. A firm favourite in my routine and the one he actually started using himself, but he has now progressed on to using the one specifically targeted towards men. He has been using it for quite a while now, and he is loving it as much as I do. If you're just starting out with skincare or are looking for something to try, if you haven't already, you need to try the C&P, it's amazing! Now on to another product he is using to wash his face and it's The Body Shop Vitamin C Facial Cleansing Polish. I picked this up when I was buying my favourite scrub ever (post coming soon...) and their skincare was on 3 for 2 so picked this one up for him to try. It's an okay product, one that's alright to use, it cleans the face but doesn't have the effect of a daily scrub that he was hoping... The Cleanse and Polish is a winner but The Body Shop's Cleansing Polish will definitely get used up. 

Now on to toner, and again something that Callum has just started using. Another firm favourite in my own routine, it only made sense for him to give the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic a go and surely but not... he loved it, just like I do. A super refreshing toner that makes the skin feel amazing after cleansing. 

Now I'm talking moisturiser and Simple has always been a range that Callum has always used. He knows it, he likes it, why change that? He uses a few of the moisturizers in the range alternately with the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo +, his current favourite moisturiser. I'm sure you've heard of this miracle worker before and to no surprise, Callum also likes it. It works well with blemish prone skin and it makes his skin feel lovely and soft. 

For a treatment, the beauty blogger in me couldn't resist adding a few face masks into his routine. I'm sure they'll hate me saying it but Callum and Matt (one of my house mates) are quite partial to a face mask - forever talking about the peel off ones... But these are the ones that he's currently using (when I remind him...!). The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask is a perfect one for those days when you're having a bit of a blemish flare up. The Tea Tree works well with calming that all down and combating the blemishes. It is a little drying though so make sure you use a good moisturiser afterwards. Another Simple product and we're talking the Simple Deep Cleansing Face Mask, not the most amazing face mask, but it makes sure your skin is feeling super clean. 

Last but not least, is The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil, a product I have to steer clear from because I'm unfortunately allergic, but none the less a great product for blemishes. Apply direct to the blemish to help clear it up and Callum seems to be liking it. 

I'm not saying these products will work for all of the men out there, but this is what is (currently) working for Callum and are the products he's using. I hope you've liked this... a little bit of a different look into skin care for us beauty obsessives. Stay tuned for more posts like this!

Video: Current Makeup Favourites

So I thought it was about time I filmed another video, and actually I filmed it quite a while ago but I had such a problem with the lighting it took me super long to sort (and then unsort...) so I'm really sorry it's not perfect but I have bought some lights so the rest should be much better! 

I'm talking my current makeup favourites... I've found the perfect foundation, I'm discussing some of my favourite eyeshadows and nail polishes plus many more... Go on, give it a watch, you know you want to!
