To Epilate, Or Not To Epilate...

I got this Philips Satinelle Soft Epilator way back, years ago, for Christmas. I used it once, couldn't bare the pain so put it back in its box and never looked back... Until recently. When one of my best friends and housemate Dina started using hers, I thought maybe it was time to give it a go again all these years later. I hunted for the box, gave it a quick dust and put it back to work. At first, I really thought I'd get into using it. We were determined to do it together and we did.

When you first do it, oh my god does it hurt but it almost gets addictive. The more you do it, the more you you want to do it. I always find that once I restart again another day, it goes back to being awful. That was when I started, but now its okay. The pain isn't as bad, the finish is better but it does still take forever to do it. The main issue is ingrown hairs, but I find if you use a good abrasive scrub  and moisturiser it sorts it out, mostly... I've heard about the benefits of epilating, and obviously I haven't been doing it long enough yet to reap the full benefits, but I'm persevering through and have put the razor to the side for now. Will update if I carry on/if I give up and the effects I can see. Summer legs, here I come!

Do you epilate? Would love to hear your experiences/tips!

  1. I really want to start! I used to wax but think epilating will be much easier as I've tried it once. I'm excited to hear about your progress with it!

  2. I half tried it once, I found it quite painful and never tried it again. People do say that once you have done it a few times it is less painful, but I am too much of a chicken x

    1. It's so worth it, if you ever think you can bare it then I'd definitely recommend, just can be a pain with how long it can take! Will see how long I keep at it! x

  3. I remember having an epilator for christmas one year (nice one mum) - it was so painful I just stuck to the good old razor and have done ever since! Pain free, a bit of a chore but pain free is what counts for me! x

  4. It definitely does hurt at first... but then again so does waxing and the more regularly you do it, it eases the pain but it's the best mehod of hair removal... better than waxing, well is atleast for me ;)

  5. I've been epilating for years now and I love it! I barely feel it on my legs now and the hairs have become super fine and I've also started epilating my underarms and bikini line and it just works so well- I think I'm addicted! I've had my epilator for about five years now though so I may upgrade to a waterproof edition at some point so I can epilate in the bath... genius!

  6. currently I use good old hair removal cream. The thought of epilation scares me but if I get the opportunity to try it then I shall.
