Eating in London: Dozo Sushi

The latest in my Eating in London series is one for the Japanese and Sushi lovers out there. Perfect for the vegetarians and pescetarians too, as there is so much choice! The reason why I love this cuisine is because I'm a massive fan of trying lots of different things, I love tapas for that reason and this is right up there with that. I headed down to Dozo Sushi in Soho, London* to try out some of their dishes. Great location and it's so cool. There are tables with a hole in the ground to fit in your leg to nod to the authentic Japanese restaurants. Such a different place to go because of that and spoiler, the food was incredible.

I'm the biggest fan of edamame there ever was. I've definitely mentioned it before in this series, so you'll notice that if you've read any of the other posts in the series then you'll probably know that so as soon as I spied the Spicy Edamame on the menu we just had to have it. It was in a spicy kimchi sauce and it was incredible. The portion size was massive and I enjoyed it more than I can explain. We got the Vegetable Gyoza, really tasty dumplings with a delicious filling. A great start to the meal. I'm not usually a fan of Sashimi or anything too raw so I wasn't sure how I'd be with these but the Maguro Tataki, seared tuna with an apple dressing was amazing. I think the mixture of it being slightly cooked around the edges and the amazing dressing made it better than the raw things I'd tried before.

For sushi we got the Ebi Tempura cut rolls, this is one of my favourites and it's filled with tempura prawn, avocado and mayonnaise. These were delicious and definitely didn't disappoint. The Shitake Robata Yaki (mushrooms on sticks) were gorgeous, so simple but so delicious and of course we had to get the Yaki Hotate (Grilled Scallops with apple dressing, grapeseed oil and kizami wasabi), this was incredible. I've recently been getting totally into scallops and these completely didn't disappoint. If you go you need to get these. We finished off the savoury items with some tempura and went for the Tempura no Moriwase, to let us try the tempura prawn, fish and vegetables. It tasted lovely dipped in the sauce served with it! But the star of the meal, was completely the Gindara Saikyomiso (Grilled black cod marinated with saikyomiso). I've never tried black cod before but now I know what I've been missing out on. Imagine the butteriest fillet of fish that you've ever eaten and add a bit extra and you've got this. It was incredible and so worth the money.

To finish off the meal we had some plum wine and the Mochi platter. So yummy and the coconut, chocolate and raspberry flavours were totally the best. I'd recommend leaving it a little while though as it's so cold on your teeth if you dig in straight away.

Such a delicious meal and I'd definitely recommend everything we tried! No complaint there and if you're wondering what drinks to order I'd totally recommend the fresh lemonade with mint if you're looking for something non-alcoholic and the plum wine if you're fancying alcohol. So delicious.

Where's your favourite place to get Sushi?
